THE NEW WORLD ORDER
I was not sure if I was glad to hear all these things from Daniel. I was so confused that I didn’t know what I would like to hear, but Daniel, nonetheless, continued his preaching.
“She was right in many aspects. I guess that even your daughter could confirm this to you from her local TV station in Ohio…”
“Iowa,” I corrected him, just because I was annoyed.
“Iowa; doesn’t really matter. All the people in the media know that they are not reporting the news anymore, they are creating it. It will just become worse with the Internet when it will be so easy to create bogus sources. Although it is very unlikely that Rupert would push for a whole new war just for the sake of ratings, he might well be just a front man for a coalition of people who would profit in any war. The media just replaced the churches in their preaching. We used to go to war against the antichrists to protect Christianity. Now we are going after alleged ‘dictators’ to protect democracy.” Daniel sarcastically over-pronounced ‘dictators’. “At the same time, they are OK with oil-rich Middle-Eastern dictators or the undemocratic government of Singapore, while many legitimately elected leaders are labeled dictators. Interestingly enough, on this very same day America killed democracy in Chile. The CIA organized a coup in which the democratically elected President Salvador Allende was killed by the dictator, General Pinochet. Yet the American media continued on celebrating the victory of capitalism and Western democracy. The media were just the preachers of the 20th century. I already told you that the modern media will constitute the main religion of the 21st century. In fifty years time, it won’t matter if you are a Christian or a Muslim, what will matter instead is whether you watch Fox or CNN, or whoever will be king of the Internet or who knows what other type of media will emerge. You know, Linda might have been right. I knew that the media are fueling wars, but we soon may witness media conglomerates causing wars the same way religions were doing for centuries, as there is heaps of money to be made from those conflicts.”
“There are people that make money in every war.” I remembered how some of my schoolmates made fortunes overnight. A fortune many innocent people paid for with their lives.
“You can bet on that one. It used to be the royalty and aristocracy who would make money in wars. Now it is the big corporation. While aristocrats used to be above the law, now these are the big corporations. Microsoft, News Corporation, Exxon, Dupont, Monsanto, Westinghouse, General Dynamics, Boeing. You can’t do anything against them. Nowadays, they’ve developed techniques that would make them untouchable. Not only lobbying. They find somebody like those guys Abramoff and Wilkes and directly bribe congressmen and senators, or influence judges.” Daniel listed names that were unfamiliar to me.
“Who?”
“It doesn’t matter. What really doesn’t make sense to me is having Microsoft and Fox News in the scheme of things. I personally doubt that Microsoft would do something so risky and unnecessarily stupid, especially knowing that they supported Bush’s campaign.” Daniel breathed in deeply. “On the other hand they are still young and nerdy, so it could be possible. Something that I never had the slightest doubt about was that Microsoft would never be split up. It is the powerhouse of the American economy. Nobody would allow something like that to happen.”
“It looked to me like there was no escape for them.”
“Because the media made you think that way. They have done it on purpose to show that the American economy is still strong and healthy. However, you must not forget that America was on its knees in the early nineties. Americans were importing absolutely everything, and couldn’t export a damn thing apart from movies and music. Then, Microsoft came along and suddenly the whole economy recovered with the IT wave, while most computers are still made in Asia.”
I wasn’t listening to Daniel anymore. He had stirred me again and I was going through the possibilities in my head. Again, nothing made sense. Daniel kept going.
“Another thing, having Rupert Murdoch in this game makes no sense. He is too wise to play these games. Although he knows that he can practically choose leaders, if not in America, then at least in the UK and Australia, he is also aware that in a couple of months those same politicians could destroy his empire.”
“So you are saying that there is no way Fox News would be in the whole game.”
“Well, there may have been ‘favors’ that Murdoch was likely to expect from Bush. President Clinton allowed media barons to concentrate the media from thousands of independent owners to only a chosen few. In return, the media barons gave him a more favorable image of a saxophone player and womanizer, instead of a man who bombed not the military facilities but hospitals and pharmaceuticals manufacturers in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Sudan and Afghanistan. Now I guess that that’s what Murdoch really wants, the same level of freedom and protection he enjoyed under Clinton. That’s the underlying requirement, and the destruction in the form of a new war or any other external threat would help in that process because when people fear, they care only for themselves and forget all about democracy and their human rights. Yet, I’d still say that the whole deal with Linda was simply a scam, although I cannot be sure.
“You know, all these guys were friends or supporters of the Bush family. And only friends could play those games, not the enemies. People like Bush would never comply with blackmails from foes, but they understand those friendly opponents very well. Don’t forget that Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush were good friends and that his brother, Jonathan Bush, and his Riggs Bank helped both Bill and Hilary, as well as other members of the Bush family steal half a trillion dollars from the Children’s Defense Fund, laundering it through Crozier Bank in Grenada.”
“You mean half a billion,” I corrected Daniel.
“No, you heard me well, five hundred billion, my boy.” Daniel was showing me again in which league real politics operated. “Just remember that they are in it together. That’s why it doesn’t really matter who is the President and why Al Gore didn’t make such a big fuss over the stolen election. They work with the same people. President’s Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, is a friend of Clinton and Gore’s and he used to be the US Secretary during Bush Senior’s service. He is the head of the White House Iraq Group, which could become that new perpetual war Linda was bragging about, although it would be nothing special or unexpected. There are also other people working for both camps: Karl Rove, ‘Scooter’ Libby, Condoleezza Rice and Karen Hughes. The same Rupert Murdoch is a friend of Clinton’s, the Bush family and even Al Gore. They are united. Sometimes, they would compete against each other, sometimes they would try to damage and even ruin each other, but they will never try to shake the boat they are on: The American pseudo-democratic system.”
“American pseudo-democratic system?”
“You heard me. It’s more like an Anglo-American real government established around E-Systems with the capital in Dallas. That’s a real, standing monarchy, internally called ‘The Company’. They never change. You have generations of Bushes, Tafts, Kennedys, Gores and Thatcher families or people that served in numerous administrations like Henry Kissinger or Donald Rumsfeld. You can get in the club, based on merits, like Clinton, but they will always try to keep as few people in the club as possible. That’s why they, for instance, tried to set George W. Bush up with Nixon’s daughter. Why do you think Schwarzenegger married a Kennedy clan girl? He couldn’t make it into American politics any other way. Nobody cares that she is a Democrat and that Arnie was serving in a Republican cabinet. It’s only important that you are the member of the club and that the secret stays in the family. And if you are on E-Systems payroll, you are working on the Anglo-American court.”
“Do you work for E-Systems?” I wanted to know.
Daniel only smiled in a proud way that was a solid ‘yes’. “They are a legitimate defense industry contractor with normal products and services, but with an important function on the side: supporting the leaders while they are not in office with a regular salary.”
“How powerful are they?”
“Since the cold war was over, they have been behind every coup d’état, civil war, stock exchange crash, civil unrest and anything else in the news with the exception of the weather forecast, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they soon start controlling that too.”
“You are telling me that they are world real government that controls everything?” I asked him this, but more to confirm my earlier convictions.
“Well, they are rulers of the world, but they are only humans. Their plans don’t always work out. Sometimes, they get discovered, sometimes they fail miserably like the civil war in Russia, which was supposed to split the country into three parts. More often they escalate beyond the initial scope, like in the former Yugoslavia or Rwanda, where the war was actually a French brainchild.”
“You never told me who are you working for, Americans or French?”
Daniel laughed. “Well, cynics would probably say that France doesn’t exist anymore as it has silently become occupied by Germans. It seems like only Britain and Scandinavia are free from German control. There are only British left with neutral Scandinavians. I can honestly say, in a traditional sense, that there are no countries anymore, as the world becomes ruled by multinationals. Is Daimler-Chrysler a German or an American company? Do you know? Does anybody know? At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. Daimler-Chrysler will keep making Mitsubishis and some obscure person in South Africa will have their share and they will all be making money. The only way the Americans and other ‘new nations’ win is with the fact that they are a mixed nation and therefore they can’t really lose as long as they are making money. French, German and Britons, on the other hand, can.”
“The only thing I understood is that again you did not answer my question.”
“Oh, but I did, but you keep thinking with 19th century politics in your head. In the 21st century, Americans, Germans, French, Jews, all work together against the weak; wherever and whenever they can make money. Weak people like the Muslims, people in Africa, Orthodox Christians, Indonesians, Indians, even the Catholics in Latin America. Whoever is an easy target will be exploited. They don’t choose their enemies purely on religion, race or geography. They target the weak, the poor and often do the same thing with their own people in poor Muslim suburbs in Paris and Marseilles, black ghettos in LA and New Orleans, and the Turkish neighborhoods in Berlin.”
“They, they. Who are they? Only politicians?” I wanted to know everything. “What is your role in whole thing?”
“I used to promote these ideas and make things happen.”
So I kept asking questions. “What do you do now?”
“I make the plans and sell them to politicians, and then they pass it on further.”
“Who is above them?”
“Real royalty, old school businessmen…”
“You mean Rockefellers and Rothschilds.”
“Oh, don’t go after the stereotypes. The Rothschilds are not that influential at all. There are many families that still have friends, but have lost their earlier influence, like the Adams, Roosevelt and Harrison families. This group is a live organism: some people are leaving, others, like Clinton and Thatcher are coming.”
“What about businesspeople?”
“Well, Linda might be fake, but Bill Gates, Rupert Murdoch, Ted Turner, Michael Eisner…”
“Michael, who?”
“Disney’s boss. I don’t know if you can see the pattern…” Daniel paused, but I didn’t answer, so he kept going, “…They are all media bosses. Jack Welch may be the greatest manager of the 20th century, yet most people haven’t heard of him, let alone his company, GE, if they didn’t use their light bulbs. Michael Dell may computerize America, but he is not much different from the Tupperware inventor. But these other guys, Murdoch, Turner and the likes, are modern priests, although the old school sort are still important.”
“You mean real priests?”
“Yes, like Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. As the Pope is getting old and incapable, this guy is pulling all the strings, and I can assure you that he is a member of the club.”
“With Gates, Murdoch and others?”
“Yes, and especially with Bush. The President’s younger brother, Neil Bush is founder and main backer of Ratzinger’s Inquisition.”
“Inquisition?” I wondered if Daniel had gone completely mad.
“Obviously, that’s not the official name. It’s some sort of religious research thing, but it’s pure propaganda. Speaking of Neil, he is a good friend of Jiang Mianheng, son of the Chinese President Jiang Zemin and this shows how the club is expanding. That’s how they are able to practically rule the world, even to bomb the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade and to have Jiang Zemin remain peaceful, only putting up verbal protests for show back at home.”
“So, we practically have some kind of world dictatorship, which we cannot change and which is emptying our pockets in meantime.”
“Well, you could say that this pseudo-democracy is much more efficient than the real democracy and that thanks to this global reach, there are fewer wars in the world.”
“Fewer wars? Fewer wars?” I couldn’t believe what this man was telling me. “After all wars in previous decade, you are telling me less wars.”
I completely lost it and started taking everything out on him.
“I am just listening to you how cold-bloodedly you are defending them and what you do, like you are unaware of consequences your work is causing. It all sounds nice when you say it to a ‘gullible American’, as you described them, but not to me. I am not drinking your piss, man! I know very well what you and your big-shot friends have caused. I know it firsthand, Daniel. Firsthand. I lost my country. I lost my life. My family. Everything. You are one to blame. You and your friends working for The Company! How come you are not ashamed of what you are doing?”
“Why are you judging me, Zoran? I might not be aware of all the consequences of my work, but what did I do, really? I did not kill anybody. I did not even make any orders to kill. I was just lobbying.”
“You were selling fear, as you put it.”
“OK, what if I was selling fear?”
“Fear and anger that made countries buy weapons. Go into wars.” I didn’t want to let Daniel off the hook.
“Weapons for protection.”
“And killing.”
“That’s the unfortunate nature of my product. The same way McDonald’s, KFC and Kellogg’s cereals make you fat, pump up your cholesterol and cause diabetes. Yet, you have to eat. Those companies just try to sell you more, but it isn’t their fault people are getting fat. I am just trying to sell my products. I never said kill the bastards.”
“Yeah, what about tomahawk rockets?”
“What about them? You can target radar systems and military bases without casualties. I never thought they would target hospitals, TV stations and power plants. That wasn’t my plan.”
“You could have said no.”
“What difference would that make? I am retiring. I will do one last big thing, I am not proud of, but I will do it, as payback. You know, I started from ground zero. I worked with or against people like Jean-Christophe Mitterrand and Mark Thatcher. You can guess who their parents are by their last names. I managed to go through all the unofficial ranks and compete with them in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. I did not have the backing they had and I still made it. Better than them. Better than them… Unfortunately, even the people I worked with don’t recognize this. That’s why I realized that like John Galt from Atlas Shrugged I should stop doing my work so my importance could be fully recognized. I was probably the best in the world.” Daniel kept bragging, but then paused and continued in more humbly with a hint of regret. “I was the best in the worst job in the world.”
“You had choice.”
“You can’t get into this club just like that, so getting out will be even harder. But hopefully, I am retiring tomorrow and apart from what you are implying, I don’t have a single dark spot in my professional life. I remained anonymous, which is the greatest achievement if you are doing my job.”
“At least that is advantage of not having Mitterrand or Thatcher as your surname.” I added, just to get off the topic, as I realized that arguing with Daniel was pointless.
“Well, it’s hardly an advantage. I had to do everything the hard way.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, they often had their parents push their agenda and sign major contracts, like the twenty-billion-pound Al Yamamah arms contract with Saudi Arabia Margaret signed that made her son bloody rich. And President Mitterrand sponsored bilateral deals for his son’s Forestiere et Industrielle de la Doume in Cameron, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Unlike them, I’ve done it all on my own, without anybody’s support. And I must admit, I’ve done a much better job since I was able to remain out of the public eye, unlike Jean-Christophe who is all over the press these days.”
“Because you stayed behind scenes, safe.”
“That’s right. Although I had a feeling that I created history on more occasions than one, I knew that I would never get any recognition for it. It hurts, but also knowing that I had contributed in shaping the future is a mighty good feeling. And boy that’s something that cannot be described.”
